• Natural Resource Conservation

Bub loved the outdoors; fishing, hiking in regional parks, searching for wildlife, and visiting our National parks. He was passionate about appropriately managing our state and national forests especially when it pertained to wildfires. He would often drive to burn areas to broaden his knowledge and watch how the environment would react to regrowth.

  • Veterans & First Responders

Bub was very patriotic and has always been passionate about all branches of military. Reading and studying as much as he could, he often knew more about the military than those who served. His grandfather works on the USS Hornet in Alameda and Bub volunteered his time to work there, not only to spend time with his grandfather, but to engage with the veterans who were docents on the ship.

Bub felt strongly about supporting police officers, nurses, and other first responders as he was in the process of becoming a wild land firefighter when diagnosed with cancer.

  • Cancer Research

Bub’s friend, Sophia, is a pediatric oncology nurse. She was incredibly supportive of him during his treatments and surgeries, providing him first hand knowledge of what to expect. One of the pillars of Bub’s foundation is the support of cancer research, specifically towards pediatric oncology.

Surprisingly, only 4% of total cancer research funds are allotted to pediatric oncology research. He wasn’t naïve enough to believe we could make that difference on our own but he did know he would be able to help. The simplicity of real time support such as offering advice, lending a sympathetic ear listening to daily struggles, or helping patients move past their illness were his key goals. With that type of support, he was confident people could move on and do amazing things.

  • Youth Sports & Education

Athletics played a monumental part in Bub’s life. He primarily loved football and baseball, and ultimately found a home with the Campolindo High School Football Team. While Bub was an exceptional athlete gaining notoriety as a state champion, team captain, and an all-league award winner, what came to mind was giving back. Bub was frequently seen mentoring the younger football players at Campolindo both as a player and a coach.
